Right to Information Act, 2005

The basic object of the Right to Information Act is to empower the citizens,promote transparency and accountability in the working of the Government,contain corruption, and make our democracy work for the people in real sense.It goes without saying that an informed citizen is better equipped to keep necessary vigil on the instruments of governance and make the government more accountable to the governed.The Act is a big step towards making the citizens informed about the activities of the Government.
NIC as a Public Authority designated Public Informa▨tion Officer (PIO) and Appellate Authority (AA) for citizens to secure access to information and published the Proactive Disclosures in accordance with the provisi💝ons of the Act in October 2005.

  • The manner of execution of subsidy programmes, including the amounts allocated and the details of beneficiaries of such programmes

  • The particulars of facilities available to citizens for obtaining information, including the working hours of a library or reading room, if maintained for public use:

    • The Office of CPIO (RTI) is located on 6th Floor, NIC HQ (Room No.627). The information pertaining to NIC is also available on //rr789.co/ in detail.
    • RTI application shall be accompanied by an application fee of Rs. 10/- by demand draft or bankers cheque or IPO payable to the Accounts Officer, NIC or DDO, NIC.Court Fees is not acceptable.

  • Educational programmes for CPIO, PIO, Technical and Non Technical Officers of NIC

    • 21st Workshop on Right to Information Act, 2005 in ISTM, Delhi from 11th to 13th June, 2018
    • Two days OSP on RTI for NIC Officials handling RTI matters at ISTM, New Delhi on 3-4th August, 2017
    • Workshop on 14th October 2019 on RTI for Technical and Non Technical Officers / Staff of NIC at NIC HQ and through Video Conferencing for State and UT Centres.
